About Dorothea Vooris Hand  

 

My love for the German Shorthaired Pointers started from birth, as I am the daughter of Dorothea Vooris Simberlund of the world known Fieldfine Kennels, established in 1969. Fieldfine is the birthplace of two of the breeds top producing stud dogs in breed history; AM / Can Fieldfine Count Rambard and Am/Can GCH Fieldfine Back In Action JH CGC who is the breed's Record holding National Specialty Winner. Ace was shown to this honor by my husband Kevin and myself. I started early in my childhood, at age 5 training and showing our beautiful GSPs, winning my first group at the tender age of 7.

 

In 1987 I began professionally handling at the age of 17 and was blessed to have many top sporting and working dogs on the end of my leash throughout the years. In 2015 I sustained a major life changing injury that left me unable to run, so for now I will occasionally be seen showing puppies. My dogs are still competitive in the breed ring being shown by professional handlers, along with my daughter Kaitlyn and husband Kevin.

 

Among my many accomplishments, I have bred many nationally ranked GSPs as well as breaking the long-standing record of Nationally Specialty wins with a veteran dog bred by my mother ,Dot Simberlund of Fieldfine Kennels Reg . Most of these dogs were co bred with my mother who remains to date my biggest mentor.

 

In 2020 I was granted AKC Gold Breeder Of Merit status with 75 AKC titled dogs.

 

In 2021 we purchased a new home with a training facility where I am now enjoying teaching my passion of showing to others. My husband and daughter both enjoy time with our dogs in various venues and can occasionally be seen competing with them in various  venues .
